With a communications specialty theme, Leland has the number one ranked Speech and Debate program in the nation. Leland offers unique opportunities in languages and media communication, while thoroughly preparing students for higher education. Over ninety percent of Leland students go on to college. As one of only 100 National Service Learning Leader schools, our science focused, rigorous core curriculum is supplemented by the BioSite elective. Our students have multiple opportunities to be involved in volunteer and research programs outside of the classroom and to present on their programs and work at local and national conferences. All students participate in the cross-curricular sophomore project which engages them in meaningful community service. Our student artists participate in productions, exhibitions and concerts. Our athletic, dance, spirit, and robotics teams are area leaders, proudly winning league titles and participating in regional and national championship tournaments. Pioneer offers radio broadcasting training and experience with the District’s only radio station (KMTG 89.3 FM). Broadway provides students with a challenging, supportive, and flexible learning environment. Our focus is on academic, employment, and life skills to enable our students in taking an active role in creating their futures. Broadway is fully WASC accredited (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) and students participate in all graduation requirements as established by San Jose Unified School District. Our standards based curriculum ranges from remedial to advanced coursework and prepares students for post-secondary education and/or employment. Broadway also has a young families program on campus, allowing pregnant or parenting students to attend school. Students enrolled in our young families program access the full academic program, as well as outside support services including health and social programs.
